BENEFITS OF AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE

Some of the possible health benefits of aromatherapy massage include its ability to reduce anxiety, ease depression, boost energy levels, speed up the healing process, eliminate headaches, boost cognitive performance, induce sleep, strengthen the immune system, reduce pain, improve digestion and increase circulation.

WHAT CAN MASSAGE DO FOR YOU?

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it's called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health.

THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
The lymphatic system is a system of thin tubes and lymph nodes that run throughout the body. The lymph system is an important part of our immune system. It plays a role in fighting bacteria and other infections and destroying old or abnormal cells. The lymphatic system works to clear away infection and keep your body fluids in balance. Regular massage is known to improve lymphatic drainage and promote health and wellbeing.

IS MASSAGE SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?
Before any treatments I ask clients to complete a medical history form. Clients that are having any type of cancer treatment will need to check with their Doctor first.

I will ask if you are taking medicines, herbal products or natural remedies as some essential oils could affect how well these drugs or therapies work and I can ensure I accommodate this when choosing the essential oils for you.

WHEN NOT TO HAVE A MASSAGE
Massage does boost the immune system and relieve your tension. However, when your body is already fighting off a virus due to a cold or flu, a massage can actually make things worse. Massage increases circulation throughout the body. If you are too sick to go to work you are probably too sick to get a massage.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A MASSAGE SESSION?
A treatment is usually an hour in length, allow an extra 15 minutes for the first session in order to complete a medical history sheet. The room will be warm and comfortable with gently relaxing music and candles. A blanket will be offered and a pillow to aid comfort and relaxation.

WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant oils. There are more than 90 types of essential oils, each with its own unique smell and potential health benefits. During an aromatherapy massage, drops of essential oils are added to the massage oil. You inhale these essential oil molecules and absorb them through your skin. They are thought to promote beneficial changes in your mind and body by affecting the limbic system, a region of the brain known to influence the nervous system.

ESSENTIAL OILS

The essential oils I use will depend on what the client is asking for from the treatment. Studies have shown that specific essential oils used in aromatherapy can help relieve stress, relax the body, and promote better sleep.
